As a scientist, I believe it is very important to be cautious with labels such as ‘optimal behavior’ or other concepts that are constructed by experimenters. For example, to compare a crow’s intelligence to human skills could potentially hinder the understanding of the crow’s adept behavior considering the ecological niche.

Each individual character of the word ‘Oubaitori’ ( 桜梅桃李) represents a different kind of blossom: cherry, apricot, peach and plum. All four trees blossom, but they blossom at their own moment, following their own path in time in which they show their beauty. It makes little sense evaluating the blossoms in terms of "blossoming too late or too early".

I worry that in our time, the line between ideas and evidence, between opinion and science, is growing thin. We mistake complexity for truth — dressing up speculation in elegant equations, models, or complex concepts. But true science does not rest on how complex or clever we sound, but on how rigorously we let nature respond. Truth does not yield to eloquence or elegance. It submits only to evidence.
