This short eLearning project was created to help users gain basic yet powerful knowledge about the body's stress hormone known as cortisol. Users engage with tab interactions to learn about the role of stress hormone in the body and effects of high stress levels on overall health.
Audience: Individuals that undergo chronic stress or want to develop a deeper understanding of how stress affects overall health.
Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Development, Visual Design
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline360, Adobe Photoshop
Stress is a common issue that affects both physical and mental health. It can stem from various sources, including health concerns, finances, economic conditions, family responsibilities, and personal safety. While stress is a natural part of life and often temporary, prolonged stress can have lasting effects on overall well-being.
To help develop a better understanding of stress and its impact on the body, I created a short eLearning experience that teaches users about cortisol—the hormone responsible for stress. Through interactive tabs, users will explore cortisol’s role in the body and the effects of elevated cortisol levels on overall health. At the end of the experience, users will have the opportunity to participate in a deep breathing exercise designed to help regulate cortisol levels and manage stress.
I took full ownership of the project, overseeing the design process and full development. To ensure authenticity and accuracy of information I referred to Cleveland Clinic as foundational reference. Once I gathered all of the information that would give users basic, yet valuable knowledge, I created a quick style guide to drive the visual design for the project. The color palette I chose mimics natural elements like sand, stone, greenery, and soft light, which the brain associates with peace and balance. It avoids harsh contrasts and overly bright hues, creating a soft, harmonious, and calming atmosphere. Adding a greenery background to the slides enhances the calming and immersive feel of the project making learners feel refreshed and engaged. Since the project has soft, natural tones, the Georgia font style’s classic look complements the theme by adding a sense of stability. It gives off a gentle, reassuring feel, which is great for this stress-management topic.
